Polycrystalline silicon, which accounts for 80% of the cost of solar cells, has risen from 13 US dollars/kg a few years ago to 80-100 US dollars/kg now. The self-sufficiency rate of polysilicon in China is only 2.6%. Recently, Tianwei Yingli of G Tianwei has planned to go. Listed on the NYSE, it plans to raise about 3 billion yuan, which will increase the capacity of solar cells from 100 megawatts to 600 megawatts, and 17 tons of polysilicon per megawatt. The demand for polysilicon is also increased five times. Approved four thousand-ton polysilicon projects in Shizuishan, Ningxia, Luoyang, Sichuan, Leshan and Liaoning Linghai. Among them, Ningxia Shizuishan plans a total investment of 7 billion yuan, with a scale of more than 5,000 tons. It is a world-class, China's new richest man Shi Zhengrong and Tian Wei Yingli will be the main investment. On January 23, the Securities Times has proved that Zhengrong will participate in the Shizuishan Silicon Base Project, while the three listed companies in Shizuishan City, G Dongfang, G Yinglite and Gning Hengli Completed the share reform and paved the way for the world-class polysilicon base project.
The process of producing polycrystalline silicon is that the silica sand is first replaced with carbon by 98% of metal silicon in the electric arc furnace, and then reacted with chlorine gas and hydrogen to form trichlorosilane (SiHCl3), and then reduced and deposited into polycrystalline silicon in hydrogen. The investment in polysilicon projects is huge. The scale of a 1,000-ton project is equal to a medium-sized petrochemical plant with an investment of about 1.2 billion yuan. Chlorine gas is toxic. If the air exceeds 0.001 mg/L, there is danger. If the technology is not enough, polysilicon will run out with chlorine. Serious pollution of the environment, so even if there is a serious shortage of polysilicon, the state is still extremely strict, and currently only four thousand-ton polysilicon projects have been approved nationwide.
Among the three listed companies in Shizuishan City, G Dongfang, which has mining capacity and is engaged in the production of silicon micropowder, provides silica sand; G Yingli, which is engaged in chlor-alkali chemical production, provides chlorine, hydrogen and part of electricity; Ganning Hengli provides electricity, Among the three subsidiaries of coal, activated carbon and construction, Ningxia Hengli Coal Industry Co., Ltd. is mainly engaged in the cleaning of clean coal from metallurgical coke. Ningxia Huahui Activated Carbon Co., Ltd. is the largest activated carbon producer in China with an annual output of 24,000 tons and 80%. The products are exported, activated carbon can be used to adsorb chlorine, Ningxia Metallurgical Construction Co., Ltd. is a large local construction enterprise, and the major shareholder Ningxia Electric Power Development and Investment Co., Ltd. is a state-owned sole proprietorship company, and is preparing to inject power assets into Ganning Hengli. The production of polysilicon involves coal, electricity, silica sand, chlorine, hydrogen, activated carbon and other major links, and the entire production chain is thus handled by three brother-owned state-owned listed companies in Shizuishan City.
