Corrosion resistance of austenitic stainless steel: The general 18.8 Cr-Ni austenitic stainless steel is resistant to oxidizing media such as the atmosphere, dilute and medium concentrations of nitric acid and concentrated sulfuric acid. In reducing media (such as hydrochloric acid, sulfurous acid, boiling glacial acetic acid) is not corrosion-resistant. Corrosion occurs in the passivation conditions, 18-8 austenitic stainless steel is not corrosion-resistant, then the high silicon content should be selected austenitic stainless steel, such as: 00Cr14Ni14Si4,00Cr18Ni14Si4,00Cr18Ni20Si6 and 0Cr20Ni24Si4Ti and so on.
