How to operate a small crane leg
During operation, the four horizontal legs of the crane are extended by pulling out the fixed pins. This prepares the site for the elastic suspension system. Before placing the legs, tighten the stabilizer and let the hydraulic pump run for about 10 minutes to ensure full pressure. Then, set the rotary valve knob to the "All-pass" position. Follow the orientation indicated on the leg operating table and move the horizontal leg handle accordingly. The four horizontal legs will extend simultaneously. At this point, the throttle handle can be used to regulate and control the engine speed, allowing for smooth extension of the outriggers. Once the outriggers reach their full stroke, quickly return the handle to the neutral position.
Next, place wooden blocks under the four vertical legs and pull the straight-leg handle in the "stretching" direction. The four vertical legs will then extend together. At this stage, it is crucial to monitor: once all the tires on the rear axle and the wheels are off the ground, stop the operation immediately. Check carefully whether the frame girder or the turntable is level. The slope of the supporting surface should not exceed 1/1000 (with the bubble centered) when no load is applied. If the slope is too great, adjust the valve to correct the tilt. Operate the leg handle to lower the vertical cylinder and continue lifting until the entire machine is perfectly leveled. However, never attempt to adjust the high-position hydraulic cylinder to a low position, as this could cause the middle and rear axles to drop, compromising the stability of the entire crane.
Once the machine is fully leveled, turn the rotary valve knob to the "full close" position. Cranes equipped with automatic leveling systems do not require manual adjustment.
When the crane finishes work or needs to move to another site, first retract the boom and place it on the support bracket. Ensure the rotary valve knob is in the "All-pass" position, and the straight-leg handle is in the closed position so that the vertical legs can be retracted hydraulically. This allows the mid- and rear-axle tires to lower back to the ground. Then, push the horizontal leg handle in the closing direction to bring the four horizontal legs back together. Finally, insert the fixing pins into the horizontal legs and turn the rotary valve knob to the "full close" position.
For cranes with five or more operation levers, the design includes both the leg elastic operation levers and the leg selection levers in one unit. Therefore, these models no longer have a separate rotary valve.
