2. The more grease added to the hub bearing, the better

Some drivers fill the wheel bearings and cavities with grease when servicing the wheel bearings, and think that the more the better, but this is not the case. Filling the hub cavity with grease will cause most of the grease to be thrown into the hub cavity, not only can it not be added to the bearings, but will flow to the brake shoes in the brake drum, causing the brake to fail. Increased rolling resistance will overheat the hub and cause unnecessary waste. The correct approach is to apply a thin layer of grease to the hub cavity. 3. Add lubricating oil to make the grease thinner

Some repairmen like to use lubricating oil to dilute the original lubricating grease when using grease in winter. This is wrong. Because grease is a colloidal structural system composed of thickener and base oil, the thickener forms a structural network, and the base oil (generally ordinary lubricating oil) is adsorbed in the network to form a stable structural system, so that the thickener and Base oil will not separate. If lubricating oil is added after the fat is formed, it will not be evenly dispersed and contained in the network even after stirring, and it is easy to separate out and lose during use, which is not conducive to lubrication. If you need to use a grease with a small consistency in winter, you can use a small number of 1 or 2 calcium-based grease.

4. Mixed use of old and new grease

New grease cannot be mixed with old grease, even if it is of the same type. Because the old grease contains a lot of organic acids and impurities, if mixed with the new grease will accelerate its oxidative deterioration. Therefore, when changing the grease, the old grease on the parts must be cleaned, and then the new grease should be added.

6. Grease the tire bolts and nuts

This is because the helix angle of the thread is smaller than the equivalent friction angle between the threads. In a given bolt connection, the helix angle is a certain value, and the equivalent friction angle changes with the friction state between the threads. Obviously, after oiling, the equivalent friction angle between the threads decreases, and the self-locking performance of the bolt connection deteriorates. Therefore, never apply grease or oil to the bolts and nuts of the tires, otherwise the nuts will loosen and the tires will run away, causing serious accidents.

7. Filling the starter bearing with butter

Starter bearings generally use self-lubricating bearings or porous oil-containing bearing alloys. It is an oil-containing friction-reducing alloy made of metal powder (iron or copper powder), mixed and pressed, sintered, and immersed in lubricating oil at a certain temperature material. It is mainly used in situations where it is difficult to refuel, heavy load at high speed or low speed, and frequent commutation.
