In solid-liquid separation applications, the centrifugal force causes the heavier solids to collect on the drum wall, forming a dense layer. The lighter liquid moves upward along the axis of the drum and is discharged through the upper drain port. Again, the solid residue must be removed manually after the unit has been turned off.
