LDAR technology helps leak-free management

Recently, at the on-site promotion and training meeting of the LDAR (leakage detection and repair) technology in the petrochemical industry held in Nanjing, Jinling Petrochemical Company made the introduction and on-site demonstration as the first chemical enterprise in Jiangsu to invest in LDAR technology, providing the petrochemical industry with A successful example of the management of unorganized VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) emissions.

It is reported that in general chemical production, the emission of volatile organic compounds can only be measured on site. Once the detection value is found to rise, it is necessary to find the leak point. LDAR technology is a systematic project to control the production of raw materials in the chemical industry. The technology uses fixed or mobile monitoring equipment to monitor various chemical reactors, raw material pipelines, pumps, compressors, valves, flanges, etc., which are prone to volatile organic compounds, and repair leaks exceeding a certain concentration. The purpose of controlling the pollution caused by raw material leakage is the current internationally advanced chemical exhaust gas detection technology.

Since Jinling Petrochemical officially implemented the LDAR project in March 2012, it has collected 24,565 pieces of graphic data and more than 2.0 million sealed point data, and transmitted it to the leak-free management platform. It established a management system for self-inspection and repair, company re-testing and comprehensive assessment of the company's operation department, and formed an atmosphere in which all employees participated in the investigation and leakage.

According to the relevant person in charge of Jinling Petrochemical, LDAR technology can reduce the loss of products caused by equipment leakage by more than 90%, and the effect of leak detection is very obvious. It can also improve process safety and reliability, reduce maintenance costs and risks of exposure of workers on hazardous chemicals, reduce air pollution, and raise the management of volatile organic compounds to the international advanced level.
