Problems in the Installation of Guided Wave Radar Level Gauge

(1) When the guided wave radar level gauge measures liquid material, the axis of the sensor and the surface of the medium remain vertical; when measuring solid materials, the solid medium will have a stack angle, and the sensor should be tilted at a certain angle.

(2) Try to avoid devices that cause false reflections in the emission angle. In particular, it is necessary to avoid the presence of obstacle devices in the nearest 1/3 cone-shaped emission area from the antenna (because the closer the obstacle device is, the stronger the spurious reflection signal is). If it cannot be avoided, it is recommended to use a refraction plate to refract too strong false reflections. This reduces the energy density of false echoes, making it easier for the sensor to filter out false signals.

(3) Avoid feed inlets to avoid false reflections.

(4) The sensor should not be installed in the center of the arched tank (otherwise the false echo received by the sensor will be enhanced), nor can it be installed close to the tank wall. The best installation location is at 1/2 of the radius of the tank.

(5) Avoid guided wave radar level gauges installed in places with strong eddy currents. Such as: due to stirring or a strong chemical reaction, it is recommended to use waveguide or bypass pipe measurement.

(6) If the sensor is mounted on a pipe, the antenna must protrude from the pipe. The flare antenna extends to take over at least 10mm. Rod antenna length up to 100 or 250mm. Take over the smallest 250mm diameter. A method of increasing the diameter of the take-over can be used to reduce the interference echoes due to the takeover.

(7) With regard to the waveguide waveguide antenna: The inner wall of the waveguide must be smooth, and the waveguide under the opening must reach the required minimum level so that the measurement can be performed in the pipeline. The type plate of the sensor is aligned with the axis of the opening of the waveguide. If the measured dielectric constant is less than 4, it is necessary to install a reflector at the end of the waveguide, or bend the end of the waveguide into a bend to refract the reflection echoes at the bottom of the vessel.
