Liaoning diamond mine added 2.95 million carats of resources
On April 22nd, the implementation plan for the Wafangdian Diamond Mine Assembly and Exploration Area in Liaoning Province was officially approved by the Ministry of Land and Resources. This marks a significant milestone, as the area has now been designated as the second national-level self-contained exploration zone in the province, following the Saddle-Installation Exploration Area. The project aims to identify and develop large diamond resources, with a focus on advancing geological surveys and mineral exploration efforts.
The overall survey plan is expected to result in the discovery of one major diamond production area, two new large diamond deposits, and 18 additional small to medium-sized diamond deposits. It is projected that over 2.9 million carats of 333-grade diamond resources, along with 50,000 carats of 334-type diamond sand resources, will be added to the national inventory.
In 2013, the primary focus will be on mineral prospecting, key area exploration, and supporting scientific research. The work will follow the principles of high standards and targeted breakthroughs. It is anticipated that two new large-scale diamond deposits will be identified, with an estimated total of 700,000 carats of 333-grade diamond resources.
The Provincial Department of Land and Resources will ensure the effective implementation of the assembly survey, aligning with relevant guidelines and market-driven principles. Efforts will be made to establish a multi-investment platform and introduce innovative mechanisms for geological exploration, including attracting substantial social capital. As the project progresses, the company will regularly review and revise the plan to ensure smooth execution and accelerate the breakthroughs in diamond exploration.
