Liaoning diamond mine added 2.95 million carats of resources
On April 22nd, the implementation plan for the Wafangdian Diamond Mine Assembly and Exploration Area in Liaoning Province was officially approved by the Ministry of Land and Resources. This marks a significant milestone, as the area has now been designated as the second national-level self-contained exploration zone in the province, following the Saddle-Installation Exploration Area. The project aims to identify and develop large diamond deposits, with a focus on enhancing the region's mineral resources.
The overall survey is expected to uncover one major diamond production area, two new large diamond deposits, and 18 small to medium-sized diamond deposits. Additionally, it is anticipated that more than 2.9 million carats of 333-grade diamond resources and 50,000 carats of 334-type diamond sand resources will be added. These findings are crucial for boosting the local mining industry and supporting long-term economic growth.
In 2013, the primary focus will be on conducting mineral prospecting investigations and exploring key areas, while also promoting scientific research and technological innovation. The work will follow high standards, aiming for breakthroughs in critical zones. It is expected that two new large-scale diamond deposits will be discovered, with over 700,000 carats of 333-grade diamond resources identified.
The Provincial Department of Land and Resources will ensure that all activities align with relevant guidelines and follow geological principles as well as market rules. By combining these strategies with Liaoning’s specific conditions, the department will work to establish a multi-investment platform and implement an innovative geological exploration mechanism. This includes attracting larger social investments to support the development of the area.
Moreover, as the project progresses, the company will regularly review and revise its plans to ensure efficiency and effectiveness. These efforts are aimed at accelerating the assembly survey and achieving rapid advancements in diamond exploration.
