Intelligent video surveillance will occupy the commanding heights of the market

In the rapidly evolving landscape of security technology, intelligent video surveillance is emerging as a key player in capturing market leadership. As the backbone of the Internet of Things (IoT), the security monitoring industry is set to benefit from continuous advancements in IoT technologies. This includes improvements in digital, analog, and HD-SDI systems, offering users a broader range of options. With these developments, intelligent analysis has started to be integrated into real-world projects, especially in areas like video surveillance and image retrieval, where detection capabilities are being significantly enhanced. Li Xuran, Brand Director at Tianjin Tiandi Weiye Digital Technology Co., Ltd., emphasized that the formation of the IoT will bring about a new era of intelligent security. Previously isolated systems can now be interconnected through sensor technology, creating highly intelligent security solutions. Wang Ying, a consultant at the CCID Consulting Center for Electronic Information Industry Research, highlighted that video surveillance plays a central role in IoT-based security. It's not just about data transmission anymore—it involves collecting audio, video, and environmental data, forming a comprehensive information system that sets IoT security apart from traditional methods. According to Li Xuran, the performance of intelligent video surveillance is impressive, with a frequency search success rate exceeding 99%, an intelligent video recognition rate over 90%, and daytime accuracy above 90%—even reaching over 80% at night. He stated that such advanced systems have become essential tools for companies aiming to dominate the security market. Over 400 cities have already adopted the company’s products and technologies in smart city initiatives. Telecom operators are also entering the IoT-driven home security market. China Telecom launched its "Global Eye" service, which caters to both industrial and residential use, and introduced the "3G Smart Butler" for smart homes. This allows users to monitor their homes remotely with features like mobile phone tracking, door sensors, infrared detection, gas monitoring, and video surveillance. Similarly, China Mobile has developed the "Livable Pass" standard, enabling homeowners to receive alerts on theft, gas leaks, fires, and even assistance for elderly family members—all through their mobile devices. Wei Wei, Dean of the School of Electronics and Information Engineering at the University of Science and Technology, mentioned that wireless monitoring solutions have reached a level where standard definition images can be transmitted via 3G networks efficiently. Users can choose between standard or high-definition options, with resolutions ranging from QVGA to 1080p. She added that products supporting wireless or 3G surveillance are becoming increasingly popular in the market. As the 4G era approaches, it is expected that 4G technology will further enhance the capabilities of security systems, making them more efficient and responsive.
