Zhao Rui, a member of the Qixian County Political Advisory Conference, recently highlighted the growing concern over severe smog pollution in many parts of China. In recent months, several cities have experienced prolonged periods of heavy haze, significantly impacting public health and daily life. While the national government has taken steps to address air pollution through various policies and initiatives, the problem remains complex and long-term. As a result, there is an urgent need for more immediate and practical solutions to protect those most affected by poor air quality.

Zhao proposed that the government should consider introducing specific policies related to smog insurance and subsidies, particularly for outdoor workers who are exposed to hazardous conditions on a daily basis. This group includes sanitation workers, construction laborers, traffic police, and others whose jobs require them to be outside for extended periods. These workers should be provided with high-quality N95 or similar masks that effectively filter out fine 2.5-micron particles. Additionally, Zhao suggested implementing a "haze subsidy" system, similar to the existing high-temperature allowance, to compensate these individuals for the risks they face during smog events.

By offering such support, the government can not only improve working conditions but also demonstrate a stronger commitment to public health and environmental protection. It is essential to recognize the sacrifices made by these workers and ensure their safety in increasingly polluted environments.
