Toolkit can be used to maintain occupational safety

The Liaoning Province Federation of Trade Unions, in collaboration with the Provincial Administration of Work Safety, recently launched the "Promotion and Application of the ILO Occupational Safety and Health Protection Toolkit for SMEs." This initiative aims to introduce advanced international occupational safety concepts and practical skills to support the health and safety of workers in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across the province over the next three years.

The International Labour Organization (ILO) has developed a comprehensive "toolkit" addressing common safety and health challenges faced by SMEs. This toolkit includes 132 specific measures organized into nine key categories, offering a structured approach to improving workplace conditions. As part of its broader efforts to support workers and businesses, the All-China Federation of Trade Unions has selected Liaoning as the first province to implement this program, marking a significant step toward safer working environments.

According to officials from the Provincial Federation of Trade Unions, the project will be rolled out over a three-year period. A pilot group of 30 enterprises has already been identified, covering a wide range of trades such as locksmiths, machinists, welders, masons, and spray painters. Other sectors involved include sewing and weaving workers, weavers, hoist operators, maintenance staff, packers, heat treatment workers, and distribution workers. These industries represent 13,557 SMEs and 946 work crews. The participating companies will develop actionable improvement plans, create detailed safety checklists, and gather real-world experience that will help expand the use of the toolkit across the province and eventually nationwide.
