"The severe winter is coming, but spring isn’t far away. Future furniture demand will be huge. With China’s urbanization rate now exceeding 40%, and the plan to build 360 million affordable homes, these are all positive factors for the furniture industry," one industry expert remarked.
**Online Sales Open New Markets for Sichuan Furniture**
"Enterprises should focus on strengthening their internal capabilities, ensuring smooth capital flow, and overcoming challenges can lead to new opportunities," said an industry leader. With declining furniture exports, many manufacturers are shifting sales channels from overseas and first-tier cities to second- and third-tier markets.
Sichuan Chengdu Furniture Group has expanded beyond the province, opening "Sichuan Chengdu Furniture Boutiques" in cities like Xi'an and Hangzhou, and even entering Southeast Asian markets. This year, they participated in the Malaysia International Furniture Fair. Meanwhile, online sales have become a key growth area, with more consumers purchasing furniture through platforms like JD.com and Dangdang.
He Xun, chairman of the Guangdong Furniture Chamber of Commerce, noted, "Compared to Guangdong furniture, Chengdu has a stronger position in the mid-market. While logistics and consumer habits pose challenges, online furniture sales represent a new trend and a promising opportunity for Sichuan furniture."
**Sichuan Furniture Has Great Potential**
China’s furniture industry has four major clusters: Pearl River Delta, Yangtze River Delta, Chengdu-Sichuan, and Bohai Rim. Chengdu is the largest panel furniture production base in the country, with over 3,000 home furnishing companies and nearly 600,000 employees. In 2010, the industry’s output exceeded 50 billion yuan for the first time.
