Number of stages: This refers to the number of planetary gear sets used in the reducer. A single set of star gears is typically not sufficient to achieve a large gear ratio, so two or even three sets may be required to meet higher reduction needs. However, increasing the number of gear stages can lead to a longer overall length and reduced efficiency due to more moving parts and increased friction.
Backlash: When the output shaft is fixed, and the input shaft is rotated clockwise and counterclockwise under a rated torque (with a tolerance of ±2%), the input shaft experiences a small angular displacement. This slight movement is known as backlash or return clearance. It is measured in arcminutes, where one arcminute equals 1/60th of a degree.
