Maintenance method that materials are temporarily unused after buying home

During the renovation process during the plum rain season, it's crucial to ensure proper ventilation, drying, and protection of all materials. The storage area for these materials should be as dry as possible. If needed, dehumidifiers or air conditioners can be used to reduce moisture in the storage space. Unused wood should be wrapped in plastic packaging to protect it from moisture and maintain its quality for future use. One common issue with single-layer solid wood flooring is warping or deformation. The deformation of tiles on wooden floors typically occurs when the multi-layer paint on the surface seals the wood fibers, creating a rigid layer that exerts tensile force on the surface. When the bottom of the board absorbs moisture, it expands, but since the top remains stable, this leads to a tile-like deformation. Newly delivered residential walls and slabs often have a moisture content exceeding 30%, and even after several years, if doors and windows are kept closed, the moisture level remains high. When the wooden floor (with a moisture content below 12%) absorbs moisture from the bottom, it expands, causing the boards to warp. Nails cannot prevent this kind of deformation. Whether it's a new or old building, serious tile deformation can occur in the hallway. During interior decoration, water from bathrooms, kitchens, and other areas can seep into the floor. Even though the surface appears dry, there may still be significant moisture trapped inside. This moisture is absorbed by the bottom of the dried wood floor, leading to expansion and deformation. Some people try to place a layer of plastic or foam film on the ground, but if there are holes, moisture can still penetrate. Moreover, if the edges of the film aren't properly sealed under the skirting board, environmental moisture can also enter and cause damage. Since a moisture barrier is already in place, the moisture that gets through has nowhere to go but into the wooden floor, causing further deformation—especially in single-layer solid wood flooring that hasn't been properly dried. In reality, the moisture content of most single-layer solid wood flooring available on the market meets national standards. Dry shrinkage cracks may appear, but tile deformation is not the fault of the product itself. To avoid quality issues after installation, it's better to avoid using traditional wooden keels. Instead, polystyrene extruded insulation boards are a better choice—they are easier to install, require no nails, offer insulation, thermal regulation, moisture resistance, and are more durable. Choosing a scientifically designed and practical solid wood flooring solution can enhance your home’s appearance without worries. This is especially important for large-scale projects or finely decorated homes. Selecting the right material shows both intelligence and foresight.
