Thin tires may look slim, but they are often significantly more expensive than their thicker counterparts. Without getting into the manufacturing process, one key factor to consider is reliability. The rubber used in thin tires must be much stronger to compensate for the reduced air volume inside. This makes them more resistant to friction and impact, which means higher quality standards are required. In short, the thickness of a tire should not be less than 30, as 30 is considered the minimum safe limit. Typically, a thickness of 40 to 50 is ideal for most driving conditions.
If the wheel size is too large, it can add unnecessary weight, which negatively affects ride comfort. Moreover, thinner tires are more likely to suffer damage from small potholes or road imperfections. So how does this affect performance? Simply put, larger wheels paired with thinner tires result in less tire deformation during aggressive driving, which improves handling and control. When a tire is damaged, the impact is usually less severe, enhancing safety. However, comfort decreases because thinner tires have less shock absorption. Thicker sidewalls, on the other hand, offer better cushioning, making the ride smoother but potentially less responsive. It's all about finding the right balance between performance, safety, and comfort.
