Details to be aware of before floor covering

During the summer season, many homeowners look to update their flooring. However, some have noticed that while floors in showrooms or stores appear stunning, they don't look as good at home. According to a sales consultant from the Beijing flagship store of Living House Floor, this discrepancy often stems from two main issues: a lack of overall design coordination for the home and insufficient installation skills. Poor craftsmanship can lead to unevenness, gaps, and other problems that affect both the appearance and functionality of the floor. To help consumers make informed decisions, Netease Home has launched a "Floor Paving Classroom" initiative. This program provides detailed guidance on the entire flooring process, from preparation to installation, helping homeowners avoid common pitfalls. In summer, high humidity—especially in southern regions during the rainy season—can impact flooring quality. Before installation, it's crucial to check the moisture content of the subfloor. Standard requirements are below 20%, while geothermal floors require less than 10%. If the moisture level is too high, it’s best to delay installation. Excess moisture can cause the floor to swell, leading to issues like buckling, noise, and an uneven surface. Proper ground preparation is essential. Remove any construction debris such as cement residue or gravel using a trowel. For minor uneven areas, a leveling compound or quick-drying cement can be used. When installing the floor, ensure the door height is properly reserved. The correct sequence is to install the door first, then lay the floor. The gap between the door’s bottom and the floor should be at least 5mm. This includes the height of the underlayment (35mm), floor mat (2mm), wool pad (9mm), and the floor thickness (15mm), totaling 61mm plus 5mm = 66mm. If space is tight, a saw can be used to trim the door’s lower edge. After installation, thorough cleaning is critical. As one sales representative explained, "Don’t underestimate the importance of cleaning. If not done properly, it can lead to uneven surfaces, squeaky floors, and graying of the joints." To enhance the customer experience, the Living Room Floor Golden Key Service Center launched its service in May, available across 1,500 physical stores and Tmall flagship stores nationwide. With online and offline support, customers who have experienced the dust-free installation service praise not only the beautiful finish but also the efficiency and cleanliness of the process. It’s like watching a well-organized performance, where everything is done smoothly and professionally.
